Has anyone read or listened to? If so what are your thoughts?

Another one "on my list"! Have not read yet. Looks good sitting on my bookcase though
I recall discussing it briefly with a seat neighbor on a flight years ago who kind of panned the book as only showing the "sunny side of things" (whatever that meant). But William Manchester was such a gifted writer, I do want to read it someday.

One of the best biographies I’ve read. In addition to being a great writer, Manchester’s own experience as a combat marine in the Pacific gives him special insight. After you read American Caesar, try Manchester’s personal memoir of the war, Goodbye Darkness.

I read it back during my days in the Navy...I think it had just been published. It was easy to read and made me really appreciate MacArthur more.
