Miami gets:
Watson
Houston gets:
Tua
1st (#3), 2022 1st
2nd (#36), 2022 2nd
Why Miami would do it:
- Franchise QB
- They still get the 2021 18th overall pick to draft another quality player
- They still get 3rd round picks the next 2 years
- It would likely push them into playoff contention for the next 5 years
Why Houston would do it:
- Rebuilding with draft picks, allowing the GM to rebuild properly
- #3 overall pick allows them to either get a franchise QB if Tua isn't it OR trade for more assets
I think Miami would have to give up both their #1s this year and at least another 2nd for Houston to entertain it. I’m not sure Tua is much of an asset at this point. He’s got a weak arm, and isn’t nearly as athletic as we thought he was at Bama. And he’s small. He could be a nice placeholder for a year maybe, a really good backup, and a potential trade asset down the line.
Bit this trade could actually work for both teams. Miami got good with a young, inexpensive roster while somehow managing to collect early pick assets. All they need is a dynamic QB. May as we’ll cash in those picks and go for it. Especially with Allen and the Bills emerging in the AFC East.
***I have no idea about the cap situation, though***
