Chase did quit. All things being equal, a quality GM will choose Smith first because of his commitment to his team over his commitment to himself. In the Marines, there is a phrase for that type of mindset: “hooray for me and f you!” That is not what a good gm wants.

He did more in 2 years at LSU than most of the best WRs we’ve ever had did in 4 years.
