You're exactly right. And I don't think that's an indictment of the media either. Most of them cover a lot more sports throughout the year, and they can't possibly familiarize themselves with every team's 2nd and 3rd string guys every year. We know about them because they are who we follow.

They brown-nose USC and other big media teams to get all of the info they can about them, overrate them every year, and then get little or no information about LSU (and a few other small market teams), and MIS-REPORT the facts about those teams.
