Got eliminated tonight in the 200m Breaststroke semifinal...he got 10th.
For those of you that don't know his story, Eric found out he had testicular cancer a week before Olympic Trials in June. He decided to swim anyway and he amazingly made the team. After getting extensive blood work done he was cleared to compete in the Olympics as well, without receiving any treatment whatsoever for his cancer.
So even knowing he has cancer, he made semis and went the 10th fastest time in the world. That is the epitome of the American Spirit right there folks.
Here's to Eric!
And I don't care what the record books say, in my opinion he is the greatest Olympian of all time.
