Yeah I’ve looked at that but I guess I have the next version.

I would guess a bad power connector pin/loose connection.
Worth reaching out to the seller- he’s supposed to be real responsive.
But the good news is it looks like you could probably power the “brain” or esp32 with a separate USB power supply in the meantime and confirm that the rest of the connectors (data) work and turn the lights on/off.
