the .410 is a great squirrel gun, but I'm sure everyone here still has, and uses, their "first shotgun" that their dad gave them to hunt. Get him an older (90s/early 2000s or earlier) 870 youth 20 gauge. Best shotgun I've ever had. (sadly I've heard modern Remingtons are not what they used to be though)

So no luck this morning. It was a bit foggy. Sat down till about 8am, then did a bit of stalking. Will give it a go again in the morning. He had fun. Way it goes.
