The CSAL is what it is, the best league for kids w/ money. I played and coached in the CSAL and know for a fact we couldnt compete w/ public schools. Even though some of the "great" teams you have mentioned mixed in a few games w/ public schools doesnt mean a whole lot. Its not a coincedence the Catholic who usually (w/ exception to Redempt, St. Michael etc) gets the creme of the crop from the CSAL cant win state against public schools.
And all that matters is if you win the big tourney at the end of the season, I have heard a few people claim they were good b/c they won their own tourney
Trust me I scheduled my own tourney and won it every year..
