Considering they are employees of the taxpayer they shouldn't ever be making more than the median income of the district they work for.
That goes for all government jobs.

Amen. Even elected officials in Congress should make no more than the median income in their districts. If they improve conditions in their districts and median income income increases, then and ONLY then does their income increase.
