Not taking away from anything that Katrina brought. But if the levees don’t fail, she is not as bad a storm as this one....... this storm just plain messed shite up with its winds and everything else....

Yes it was..... but not as bad as what the SW coast of LA is looking at... we are talking months and months to recover from this and even get back to a somewhat normal life.........

this is false....

As someone who lived less than a mile off the beach in Long Beach, I can tell you that you are wrong. Maybe you just missed the coverage on the MS coast (which is fair, we were second fiddle to NOLA). Everything, LITERALLY everything along the 26 mile stretch along Hwy 90 was demolished. Slabs, that's it. And that's just the stretch for about half a mile inland from the beach. It took YEARS for the coast to get back to some semblance of what it was before Katrina and there are STILL lots and slabs along the beach that remain empty.

The levees failing fricked NOLA hard, but that wasnt the only place affected. The MS gulf coast took the brunt. We had a 35' storm surge in Long Beach.

I have never heard anyone say that it was a 35' storm surge.

But still I realize that Miss. took a huge hit... But just think if Katrina did NOT weaken before landfall how bad it could have been.. At One time she had 175 MPH winds.......
