So, the First Amendment just isn't a thing any longer?
Employers are required to reasonably accommodate an employee's religion unless doing so would place more than minimal burden on the employer's business. Players can attend church services online, so restricting them attending a gathering with more than a certain number of people is a reasonable accommodation IMO. It would place undue burden on the league to allow players to expose themselves to a pandemic virus by gathering at church every week. The first amendment doesn't apply here, but federal employment laws do. I think the NFL is in compliance here personally.
I'd also love to see a player argue he has to go to church due to his christian faith but still manages to play football every Sunday.
