How people are affected personally definitely influences thoughts and stances on the matter in a lot of instances. One thing I think is interesting is people(especially young people) like college students going to parties are harshly criticized and deemed incredibly selfish and thoughtless, which I can understand to a point. However I think it is worth noting that it could also be seen as selfish for an elderly person who has lived their life and enjoyed their “party/fun years” and so forth, to ask these young people to not live their lives to the fullest so that they can not put them(the elderly) at potentially higher risk.

I think this is especially worth noting considering that there is no real estimated time period for all of this to end. So if it was just two weeks or something like that, I can see how it would be incredibly selfish. But if you say no one should go to parties or bars or anything until this whole thing is over, we may be talking about several years. That could be a very large part of the years and opportunities for them to have these type of fun times.
