We’re (humans on Earth) not even a blip in time.
How anyone can think there isn’t life “out there” is just plain silly.
As for how it would affect us ... I don’t think it would.
I’m a woman of strong faith.
There’s zero doubt in my mind that God created everything—on Earth and beyond.

Though I agree with you, I must point out that TIME is the rate limiting factor here.
A civilization can exist for millions of years, and then be wiped out.
Galactic time scale makes discovery of another civilization less likely (even if it exists... and yes, I think there are others).
You aren't just looking for a grain of sand on the beach or a needle in a haystack. You are looking for a specific grain of sand on a specific beach of a specific planet at a specific second on a specific day of a specific year amongst all the millenia when it exists, etc.
And then to talk about proximity and contact... yikes.
But I agree, just talking math.
