My dumb question is does any of the money his family used for bail get refunded after the trial? I know the legal fees are not refunded which probably cost a fortune. His poor family will spend so much money and it likely wont make any difference

I think they have to put up around 10% of the total bond that's not refundable but assuming he doesn't skip town they aren't liable for the remaining amount.
