Remington 870 pump action 12 gauge. Easy to use, very reliable, and friendly priced.
The pump sound in itself is a deterrent to anyone with half a brain. Because they know they are eating some type of lead if they come through that door. Practically impossible to miss close quarters with a shotgun.
If you want to spend a good chunk of money and don't care about having a pump sound warning the Benelli M4 used by the Marine Corps is a very nice semi-automatic shotgun.
