Prepare for a lot of “those aren’t classics” comments.
I’d start more recent with No Country,
There will be blood, Revenant, etc.
Because It seems like a lot of movies on your list are post 90’s.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
LOTR isn’t really “character driven”, but still a great movie series.

Seen no country and obviously loved it. Need to add there will be blood to the list, I’ve heard it’s great.

Yeah, I’m a 90’s kid so a lot of these recommendations come from friends who are my age. I’m open to any suggestions, though. Godfather 1 and 2 are two of my favorite films of all time and they were 70’s movies, so I’m definitely open to anything
