So no video? Or does spotify stream that as well?

I'm pro Youtube and never use Spotify.

Says they will still have YouTube clips

Spotify has said they want to get into the video side of things, part of the reason they bought the ringer. They’ve played around with music video or music video features in the app already, I’m sure full on video capability is around the corner

Per JR’s social media post:
quote:

Announcement: the podcast is moving to @spotify! Starting on September 1 the podcast will be available on Spotify as well as all platforms, and then at the end of the year it will move exclusively to Spotify, including the video version. It will remain FREE, and it will be the exact same show. It’s just a licensing deal, so Spotify won’t have any creative control over the show. They want me to just continue doing it the way I’m doing it right now. We will still have clips up on YouTube but full versions of the show will only be on Spotify after the end of the year. I’m excited to have the support of the largest audio platform in the world and I hope you folks are there when we make the switch!
I’m sure this decision was made primarily for the $, but I also think the YouTube algorithm/copyright strikes had a role to play in his thought process. They used to be able to say whatever they wanted and pull up whatever they wanted for reference and had to stop doing that due to potential copyright strikes/search result manipulations. I think that was one of the reasons he had to stop live streaming as well. I’m sure part of this deal included protections against that sort of shadow censorship.
