Mine is and always has been being in my old military unit. Had a badass 4 years, made Sergeant in 4 years which was pretty difficult in my branch. I always tested well in IQ in high school and so did on the asvab (like 90) at 18 years old. I saw a ton of great officers and a ton of self-serving careerists, who would quickly sell out their Marines to move up to Major quicker. Figured I’d get my degree and become an officer to be part of the solution.

Decided that I’d get out, go to college, and become an officer. I get out, get my degree in 3 years, played football for my university the entire time, and then go to a Marine Officer recruiter only to be told I wasn’t minority enough. I was pretty shocked as a veteran who had spent over a year overseas, so I went to other Marine Officer recruiters. Finally found one that was also an enlisted vet who would work with me. Did a package and was subsequently told by Headquarters of the MC that my disability rating was too high to be allowed to go back in. Basically, I had given the military too much of my body so I’m not allowed to continue serving. That was like 2015.

Still figuring the career thing out. Been in one career for 3 years now and it’s sticking alright, but gonna take the LSAT in June and try to get into Law school.
