No, they're not. They're trying to trust you to follow guidelines so you can help prevent the spread and if we get lucky enough, possibly be able to contain it. You do not have the resources to let this thing explode and overrun healthcare. It's much more severe than you think. No, it's not comparable to the flu and no, it's not sensationalism when there's so many unknown variables about the virus. You have a pandemic that spreads faster than the flu, a higher mortality rate, and too many unknowns on it. You don't know how bad it can get on mortality numbers if it starts infecting millions.
If you would look past your bubble and see what they're trying to do you'd understand this would die down much quicker than you think but people are not willing to sacrifice their lifestyles in the shorter term. Life apparently is not as important as watching your football each day.
If it dies down past that you just need to trust the government to respond quickly to containment and have strict travel policies like testing anyone coming in/out then quarantine. If nobody trusts this government...I completely understand.
The millions who died in 1918 could've been prevented. With the modern medicine and science we have now...we can contain it the best we can to save maybe millions. If Louisiana lets it spread they'll be one of the worst hit states with how poor health is here.
