I would like to post a small update:
Earlier in the thread, I posted somewhat of an endorsement of Sanofi for their $100/m insulin that would basically be enough/more than anyone would need.
I still think this is admirable, but while looking around at other things, I just happened to come across a nearly-identical program from Novo Nordisk. You can get up to 3 vials/boxes of any combination of their insulin for $99/month as well. While it may seem that 10 > 3, these are both sufficient for essentially any patient on a monthly basis. In the link, you should be able to see both applications to the $99/m and the application for patient assistance, where the company considers giving the medication away for free if you qualify. I do not know what that is actually going to entail and who qualifies- that is not publicly available anywhere that I can see.
I also learned that they are who sells the human insulin (referred to as "pig" insulin by the OP later on in the threat which is simply incorrect) at Wal Mart under the ReliOn brand.
So now I would like to include an example of why the current system is better than you think, so long as you have some personal responsibility and let someone know you're struggling to pay rather than just not taking your medication.
