Alabama is pretty boring

You need better hobbies then. There's a little something for everyone in Alabama, especially as an outdoorsman.

You've got the Pinhoti trail, a 330+ mile hiking trail that starts in the Talladega national forest and connects to the Benton Mckaye in Georgia before running into the Appalachian trail.

You can catch a rainbow trout on a fly rod in the Sipsey Fork, or catch a speckled trout on a fly rod in Mobile Bay. You can go to Dismal Canyon in Franklin county and see the glowing dismalites, one of the few places in the world that this happens. Alabama has the longest navigable scenic river trail in the nation. It boasts the second largest delta in the country that's home to several species that are found there and there only. Alabama ranks third among all U.S. states in the number of troglobite species, due to it's vast explorable cave systems. Alabama is truly one of the more geologically diverse states in the country

Not into the outdoors? There are dozens of excellent breweries across the state. Mobile Mardi Gras is a great time every year. The Peanut festival in Dothan. Sloss Fest in Birmingham. Visit Muscle Shoals if you're a music buff, or Huntsville if you're a space buff. Selma if you're a history buff. The SEC baseball tournament every year. I mean, if you can't find something fun to do in Alabama then odds are you're just a miserable person. From the appalachian mountains to the white sand beaches of the gulf, I just don't see how there isn't something for everyone.

I'll give you Mississippi, but as an outdoorsman there's plenty to do there as well. If I showed you pictures of red bluff outside of Tylertown you wouldn't believe it was in Mississippi. The flyover states take this question in landslide. Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Iowa...there is just no geological diversity in those states and no major cities with a ton to offer

I like living in Mississippi, but I won't pretend it's a great tourist destination.
