Theres alot of truth to what you said there.
We said in the rant at the beginning of the season that we know O has stuff left in his back pocket. We won all our games "enough" to have a W. No reason to implement exotic blitz packages on Vanderbilt every play just to shut them out and other teams have film on us. They were never going to outscore us and didnt matter at all that they put points on us. It was an excellent coaching decision and VERY crucial down the stretch that players get healthy, suspended the ones needing to be suspended, and give younger players experience.
Why did our defense get "better" down the stretch?
-Coaching/play calling plays they havent seen
-More experienced depth
-Fresh starters (health)
Remember when everyone was criticizing the lopsided zone coverage calls at the beginning of the season? Our players got better in zone coverage early and ran more man coverage near the end as we all know they can.
