Was thinking about picking up some excel jobs on some freelance website in the little bit of spare time I have and was wondering if anyone could answer a few questions or even share their experience.

So how do you get paid I’m assuming PayPal and would have to withhold my own taxes?

I would say I’m pretty decent in excel giving everything you can do in it but by all means I am no expert. Even though I’m getting better everyday since I’m always working in it anyway I’m worried about picking up a job I may not be ready for or can’t do it in time. Most of the job descriptions seem pretty vague so can you actually see what the job is and what the deadline is before you take it?

It seems like you have to bid on jobs at a certain $ per hour but I’m sure you have to agree on how many hours it should take you to do the work so isn’t it pretty much like saying I can to this job for a fixed amount and the quicker you do it the better it is for you to move on to another one?

How does your client even know how many hours you worked on the project?

Would love to hear anyone’s experiences they can share.

Good luck competing with Indians and Chinese farms. I tried myself on a few sites for a year and never won jobs due to being outbid. I have skills in demand, am highly ranked on hackerrank, created a great professional developers resume, created sample code, and so on. Even paid to be listed. Nada

Good luck. You may have a better experience
