This is exactly the problem with the whole lost cause thing. When somebody shits on Lee, you take it as somebody shitting on you because you’ve chosen to identify with Lee in a certain unrealistic context.

None of these people think you’re their enemy or even know who you are.

In a nutshell:

W&L student: I don’t want Lee on my diploma.

Baw: So you’re saying I’m racist if I put Lee on my diploma.
