The main reason I like these people outing themselves is simple and it is something that social media made me aware of that honestly, until a few years ago, I think I just chose to pretend wasn't true.

Namely, this.

10 years ago, I just figured that people who disagreed with me on the left on issues like this were basically like me, but just wrong on the issue. I figured my friends who were liberal were largely decent people.

Then, a strange thing happened. I started to see how people who I thought of as friends talked about OTHER people who shared my opinions. I saw that my black "friends" assumed all accusations of racism were true and realized, "wait, I'm not special. They'd do this to me if they didn't know me".

And, to this woman specifically, while she's excessively vulgar, frankly, I have liberal extended family who have said roughly similar things.

In other words, social media has allowed me to realize that the "crazy" liberals aren't just strange people I don't know. They're my so called friends, neighbors, and co-workers who smile to my face right before saying anyone who thinks like I do is a racist, sexist, who hates children and wants to bring back slavery while raping women

I agree with every word of that except confining it to liberals, the right wing nutjobs are just as bad if not worse they just are not as many of them.

IMHO it is the explosion of media outlets as well as social media allowing far too many to live in an echo chamber and never be challanged for the BS they spout.
