How about back in the 60's when the CIA aided in overthrowing their democratically elected president and installing the Shah---you don't think that has anything to do with their longstanding hatred of the US???? And we did that because we feared they were too cozy with the RUSSIANS.

I don’t think they care anymore.
That was 67 years ago.
If it does anything, it just shapes their perception of us as an imperial power.
