Well, Chief was dealing with Alleva at the time and some crazy contract crap was going on between the 2.
When Les went to Chavis and tried to save him, Chavis told Miles, they are after you, bro.
They are going to run me off to get at you, Im not staying around for all of us to get fired. You and Cam go ahead. Im not staying around working for this Ahole, especially when the Aggies are willing to pay me a boat load, right now. Sorry Miles, get your head out of the sand, its you they are after. Alleva doesnt have the balzz to come straight at you, he wants to cripple you a little at a time. He will not support you from this day forward. Ive been through this before, Im not making the same mistake I made at Tennessee when they were after Fulmer. I see whats going on clearly here. Its time to go.
A few weeks later, Alleva doesnt allow Miles to bring in Dave Aranda says LSu cant afford him, lol. Miles had already pretty much told Aranda he had the job and he gets this news after Alleva allows him to interview Aranda. Thats how Kevin Steele got his career back on track. And Miles finally realized, Chavis was right all along.
Certainly, we can look back now and say this was a good plan and Chavis couldve handled the departure with more class..... But when dealing with snakes, one must get snakey as well.
