I've actually become a big high end rye whiskey fan. It isn't as sweet as bourbon and has a nice buttery finish. I enjoy a good scotch but some of them are just not my cup of tea especially the Islay. I feel like I had an 18 year balveni that was on point. McAllen is just a good entry point. There are tons of different scotch flavors depending on the region. There is a rye whiskey I've had can't think of the name of it but the bottle is unique. Super long neck with a very wide round bottom. To me they drink better neat than Bourbon.

My favorite is top end Scotch, then top end rye, then top end bourbon. I feel like bourbon is absurdly overrated because it is overtly sweet. Their goal is to get it as sweet as possible with some aromatics. It is a one trick pony. Just my opinion though.

Sounds like Willett Bourbon.
They make a rye, but the bottle doesn't have a unique shape.

Also you should look up the "branding" of what makes something be able to use the name "Bourbon". It is nothing but a bunch of garbage created by a certain place in Kentucky. It would be like proclaiming that the original and king of football is Notre Dame. The only place football is really played is "Notre Dame".

Branding is one of many things that is complete BS that drives me nuts. Buy local.

Btw I'm sipping on 2 fingers of George Dickle rye and then closing it out Lagunitas Maximus IPA. This isn't an humble brag or anything but find you a local store. Figure out which of the employees knows whiskeys and then discuss your price range and preferred flavor profile. Some people take this shite seriously and are good at their job when you give them some details. shite some of them have tasting events. Drink responsibly
