If he's 2/3 string behind a freshman, maybe he's not another Justin Fields.
Isn't he a sophomore? He would have to sit a year, then have two. But that would get in the way of the ones who will already be here when the scholarship could be used elsewhere. He would have to be a can't miss game changer to be worth considering; but then he would be starting at TCU.

People said the same thing about Fields and Fromm at UGA, and like Fields he’s playing for a defensive minded coach in Gary Patterson.
He’s a RS Freshman, that can make a case for a transfer waiver given that he’s from LA. There’s nothing wrong with more competition at the QB position. If he’s good enough he’ll play, if he’s not he won’t.
