Rouses Cause Thibodaux

On the Bayou, all you pretty are left with Rouses. In Houma, besides Rouses you have Cannatas, Walmart, a Savealot or Marcel’s in Bayou Blue. Further south, you have the old Piggly Wiggly in Chauvin.

In Thibodaux you have L&N, Walmart, and a GoBears Supermarket in Lafourche Crossing. Oh wait, I forgot the 3 Rouses.

From Raceland on south, your choices are Rouses and Walmart since the Rouses purchased Franks. In South Lafourche, there is another choice in Galliano with the Galliano Food Store.

My biggest complaint about all of these stores is that you have to watch the sales. Walmart pretty much has them all beat when it comes to everyday pricing, but if you watch especially in perishables like meat and canned goods, you can feel like you are buying things at a steal at the local stores.

I wonder how once Rouses gets itself positioned as a self distributor of its own supply chain and how that will impact its pricing.

From the look of the products on the selves, Rouses is phasing out its economy generic brands with its own brand.

I can foresee Rouses either trying to continue its expansion or it be purchased by a bigger fish like a HEB or Publix.

Hopefully, they do not get into the same rut as Delchamps/Jitney Jungle.

I've heard somewhere, maybe here, that was the end game to be bought out by a larger chain. Especially after they expanded into Alabama.
