Shoal Creek is further out and away from the action.
Rustic Tap is great - open air, beer garden kind of vibe and right on West Sixth where there’s a bunch of other bars. Fun spot, would be my pick. ETA - looks like this is where the official LSU alumni association is holding their events all weekend and their watch party.
Lavaca Street Bar is downtown and is a home for all SEC fan bases. Solid choice, been there a bunch. It’s indoors.
Shiner Saloon is on Congress, right in the middle of downtown and is also an LSU bar. Never been. Indoor bar.
Note - You can easily walk from lavaca street bar and Shiner Saloon to West Sixth.

Shoal Creek
LSU fans drive/fly to Austin only to pick the Louisiana bar in the Market District some 3 miles away from Darrell K. Royal stadium.
If possible, wait to go to Shoal Creek on Sunday to watch Saints-Texans.
