I get the impression these large number of practice hold outs are directly related to an increased focus on recovery for the players. LSU football seems to be priding itself as one of the pioneers of this movement with the amount of research and technology that’s been referenced in some of these articles around the opening of this renovated facility with the emphasis on sleep quality and nutrition amongst other things. Jack and Shelly have always been top notch, and the fact LSU has retained them for so long is pretty special. I guess/assume some of the data we have now suggests the additional practice reps for guys suffering from minor aches and pains isn’t worth it in the long run. Whether it’s based on preventing a bigger injury, or simply having them perform at a higher level later in the season, I don’t know. But there has to be something they’ve figured out recently. I think it’s really cool actually. Fans will get used to this and learn to chill out with the practice reports. If any of these injuries is serious, word will get out.
