I’m thinking about taking my two boys to Lafitte this Friday. I used to fish Lafitte quite often, but haven’t been there in about 15 years. I’d love to make a trip where my boys could catch a few reds. Neither one has caught a red fish yet.

Any good reports?

What areas are you going? Upper Lafitte area hasn't been that great the past few months, so you may want to take a longer boat ride south to make it worth your while.

Was there this past weekend. Water is high, but we caught reds Friday night from the dock. Took an arse pounding offshore Sat and rained out Sunday.

No problem and good luck - it has been hit or miss this spring and summer. Let us know how it goes.

Some guys from work this past weekend. Both boats caught fish. One was fishing north Perot on some rocks and walls fishing with live cockahoes. They did ok Friday morning but caught good on Friday evening and Saturday evening (Saturday morning was a weather bust). The other boat was fishing in Lake Salvador and using spoons.

We ended up with just two reds and two black drum. The wind and waves were pretty bad.

We caught the reds in Brusle Lake and the black drum in Round Lake. We also lost a bull red near Plum Point.

Nothing but lady fish in northeast little late and northeast turtle bay.

My kids had fun, but they still haven’t caught a redfish.
