I think Toyota owns a good bit of subaru stock, but they don't "make" them.

Toyota owns 16% of Fuji Heavy Industries which is the parent company of Subaru. Toyota proposed the joint venture of the (code named) 86 car with Subaru with the latter developing the engine. The resulting car is the Scion FR-S/Toyota 86/Subaru BRZ which is built by Subaru in Japan.

Their operations are run identically as well with the same manufacturing concepts.

Fuji Heavy Industries (FHI) is changing its name to Subaru Corporation in April 2017 and there’s more changes coming that will benefit consumers. Subaru wants to strengthen its brand name and the Japanese automaker is also deepening the product development partnership forged with fellow Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corp. Toyota owns 16 percent of FHI and Subaru will reap benefits from the alliance. Fuji Heavy president Yasuyuki Yoshinaga spoke with The Nikkei recently and revealed what’s coming. What will it mean for consumers? Subaru will stop making the Camry sedan for Toyota at its Indiana plant next month. They will be able to start producing more Subaru Outbacks on the same assembly line. This will improve supply issues and consumers won’t have to wait for delivery of their new wagon. Subaru will also begin producing the new 2017 Impreza compact later this year in Indiana for the first time. A new 3-Row Subaru crossover is also in the works for 2018.
