Did I say that? No, I didn’t. Maybe you should read my post again, with comprehension this time. I lock my doors at night, it’s part of protecting my family.

OP was implying that there was no point in locking your door because a criminal can break in anyway. Therefore, I replied saying that's nonsense, there's no reason not to lock your door for increased security. Then you replied to me with

quote:

You have to be really dumb, really desperate, or really really brave to walk into someone’s unlocked door, uninvited. Around here, doing so is absolutely taking your life in your hands.

Here's my attempt at comprehension:

1. You replied directly to my "pro-locking doors" post, which implies you wanted to contradict or oppose my view
2. The first sentence makes it seem like you think there couldn't be anybody dumb enough to try walking in, which makes it sound like you think locking doors isn't necessary.
3. Considering you didn't say definitively where you stand, that's all the context I had to work with. So I concluded you were arguing with me about locking doors.

Then you come at me with this nugget:

quote:

If a criminal walking in your front door immediately puts you at their mercy, and your wife and daughter subject to rape and you the torture of witnessing it, either you do not take responsibility for you and your family’s safety and security, or you haven’t taken the time to think, plan, and be prepared

Now you should work on your comprehension, because at no point did I say if a criminal walked in the front door that my family would therefore be raped and killed.

My only point, throughout this entire thread, is that it's dumb not to lock your doors because we live in an unpredictable world. Additionally, we all have moments of vulnerability and if you make access to your home easy and you aren't already aiming your gun at the front door, then you're rolling the dice.

To sum, it sounds like we are both on the side of locking doors. Probably should've chosen to respond to someone on the other side of the fence with your first post.
