The reason you pay so much for school is that the government subsidizes student loans. When universities see guaranteed money they start offering retarded classes that get you nowhere in your personal career. If these schools were forced to contribute 50% of the student loan financing, you'd see these prices drop overnight.
The worst part if college is the freshman year where they basicslly make up shite you HAVE to take. Like a simple engkish, math, or humanities "elective".
4 year degrees could easiky be condensed into 3 if the college would allow you to begin your major right away.

You would love my plan for when I become dictator of education.
Right now, a college degree is granted at 120 hours. Most schools break it down like this: 48 hours of university core, 18 hours of college core, 54 hours of major requirement (of which 36 is normally your major classes).
University core could be reduced to 18 hours and still make a well rounded student.
3 Hours English with an emphasis on WRITING, not Literature
3 Hours College Level Math
3 Hours History/Social Sciences
3 Hours Biology or Chemistry
6 Hours Computer Science (3 Hours Application, 3 Hours Programming)
These 18 hours would be offered as dual enrollment for high school students. If not taken in high school, all of these courses need to be taken the first semester of college. And no financial aid can be applied to these courses. You have to pay for these 18 hours and make a 3.0 before you can apply for financial aid.
College core could easily be reduced to 12 hours.
3 Hours Intro
3 Hours Career Readiness
6 Hours in a different discipline within the college. (A Marketing major could take two Accounting classes, for example)
We're at 30 Hours and we are ready for our major:
12 Hours of Prerequisite courses (any advanced Maths, Sciences, etc.)
48 Hours of Major courses. This is actually an expansion of the 36 current.
60 Hours in our Major
90 Hours Total.
Again, the first 18 will be offered via high school dual enrollment and is not eligible for financial aid. In order to take out a student loan, a student must be enrolled in 15 hours per semester. Students can fail two classes without penalty. If a student fails a third class, they are ineligible for student aid. Additionally, if a student drops below a 2.2 GPA, they are ineligible until they raise their GPA.
