Haven’t had a gaming console in almost 3 years. Looking to buy and get back in to gaming. Before I do that, which seems to be the better platform? PlayStation or Xbox? And is either worth buying now or will a new model be coming out any time in the near future that I should wait and get

You're not giving us much information here

What games do you like to play?

I'd wait til next year (2020) both the PS5 and new Xbox should be releasing next year.

If you really want to jump in right now, the PS4 has the best games and is arguably the better system.

The Nintendo switch is great as well, but they are also about to release a refreshed version

Great exclusives like God of War, real hidden gems like Gravity Rush and a lot of anime-ish games you won’t find anywhere else like Persona, Berseria, etc. Great all around system with a great UI. Get the pro model though.

The rumors of a new system are very slim and to be honest, they probably won’t talk about it until the other systems are talking about theirs as well, so go ahead and purchase a Switch if you’re interested. Lot of indie support and similar 3rd party support to PS4. You won’t find mega titles like RDR or the Mass Effect: Andromeda’s of the world on the Switch, but graphically intensive linear titles scaled down like Wolfenstein will still appear every now and then.

You’ll never be able to put Smash down either. Lol.

Thoughts on Xbox? I’ve always had an Xbox since the original one but like I said, I haven’t owned a console in over 3 years.

I mostly play first person shooter and sports games.

I've owned only xbox since my original playstation, and really want to switch over to PS4 PRO right now. When I got my X1, smart TVs/Rokus/Fires/smartphones weren't as prolific as they are now. My Xbox was a primary entertainment center in my house. It's not like that anymore. Every app that used to make my xbox usefull for entertainment is now available through multiple mediums. Every TV in my house can now do what my xbox can do, so I'm left with just gaming. And right now, Playstation and its exclusives are just killing Microsoft. It's really not even close.

As far as the Switch, I would love to play Zelda, but that's the only draw for me.

I’d wait for the next gen Xbox.

Phil Spencer pretty much straight up admitted that they had fallen behind in exclusives and parties that attract gamers to the console and have been buying up studios left and right to make sure games come to Microsoft exclusively. This generation just didn’t work for them and there is very little they have to offer. I don’t think Xbox has surpassed over 5-10 million units over 19 years in Japan through 3 consoles???? Not a very popular console overseas. Stay with Sony or Nintendo. You’re not missing much with Xbox until next generation which I think they’ll be a smash hit with.

Very true statement.

If you have to have one now and based off FPS and sport game likes. If you have a 4K TV get the Xbox One X. If you do not have a 4K TV, get a cheaper PS4.

With the exception of baseball, all the Sports games will be on both and same for FPS.

PC.
I've always hated Sony controllers for FPS games. I'd probably get an XB1 unless you REALLY like playing MLB The Show.

What did the majority of what you said have to do with a guy in Amite LA trying to decide on a console? Like how well it sells over seas matters to us? Lol

Breath of the Wild? Emulate it on PC instead. 4K and 60 FPS.
