re: Just found out my boxer has cancer

I feel your pain. My mountain cur, same age, also has cancer to the point that the left lung is collapsed. She was lethargic and dropped 10lbs in a week. Vet suggested putting her down, but couldn't do it. Put her on some steroids, stopped dog food and have been feeding her gourmet food for the last 2 weeks. (brown rice, meat, eggs, also a version of the Budwig Diet, a simple diet of cottage cheese and flaxseed oil). She is doing great, responded well to the steroid. I know we aren't going to save her, but she is happy and appears to be pain free so we'll just enjoy the rest of our time with her.
