I cut the heat as soon as I see the first huge puff of steam. From there I let them soak between 15-27 minutes

I boiled a half sack once. Typical 2-3 min boil time. 10-15 minutes into soaking I tried one and realized it had all cooled quickly and they weren’t cooked long enough. It makes perfect sense. Hence my posts in this thread.
