Don't leave your SO anywhere alone, the men in Montreal are total pigs and they don't give a frick whether or not a woman is "taken". And they have no concern about what Americans would consider "sexual harrassment". You'll witness it, I assure you. Hopefully you don't have to buck up on anybody.
And like Toronto, when you are paying by card, they bring the card machine to you and make you run your own transaction. Awkward at first for an American, but expect it.
Another thing, they all speak great English until you have a complaint about something, suddenly they don't understand, English not so good.

Funny how everyone on TD assumes that posters are men. Not so.
Everywhere else on earth, the CC machine comes to you, as CCs require a PIN for transactions. Only in the backwards US do we still do signatures on a slip of paper.
I speak French, so no worries about the language whether giving compliments or making complaints.
