You're wrong. They used an open source DNA database called GED (I think). People loading their DNA into it know ahead of time it is open source and can be used by anyone. The entire premise of this thread is wrong.

Not quite. His relative uploaded their dna profile to gedmatch.com which is designed to make the dna profile available to anyone (goal is to find new family members). 23 and me doesn’t do that
