But there isn't political, ethnic, or religious homogeneity across the US, which means that violence is likely along all those lines, as they have been during similar partitions, especially in areas where political alignments are diffuse. I'd wager that you'd see lots of displaced peoples and expelled populations that wouldn't have anything to do with anyone's political affiliation.

Decentralization is a more likely outcome than complete devolution.

Well, I don't know the logistics of how secession would work because it just doesn't seem like anything that's going to happen any time soon. It seems like it would have to start with a small group of like-minded people but what do I know?

However, that won't stop me from arguing that it's insane for right-wingers to think they can peacefully share a government with leftists.
