So what's the plan for the Alamo?

The state just a few years ago took control of it from the Daughters of the Texas Republic, claiming mismanagement.

Then the state (through the land commissioner, George P. Bush) decided to restore the Alamo courtyard, which is in front of the current structure and was encompassed by a fortress. That's where most of the battle occurred and most deaths happened. Today, it has a street running through it and hundred-year-old buildings, which will be acquired by eminent domain.

The famed cenotaph also will be moved.

I don't trust the state to do this, expect it to be a huge boondoggle, and think what was once free to visit will have admission charged to subsidize it.

I think it should be left alone.
