no you arent. at this point you're purposefully avoiding answering it because you realize the answer wont be one that makes burrow look good.
the issue is nobody would be bringing up that question if it wasn't for your retarded scorned-lover threads.

The Burrow's weren't going to be dinked around by Meyer anymore.
how was meyer dinking them around? YOU keep saying it was an open competition that was too close to call. that means burrow still had a chance to win the job. how is that dinking them around?
also, you said this earlier in the thread:
quote:
Meyer moved the goalposts. Promised to name a starter the week after the Spring game, then didn't. No longer a fair competition.
explain how meyer delaying naming a starter and keeping the competition open is not a fair competition.
quote:
Either Meyer made up his mind in May, or he was gone.
so as i said, and you ignored, earlier:
"so youre telling us the burrow's took their ball and went home when their son still was still competing to be the starter at ohio st, because a decision on the starter wasn't made when they wanted it to be? and you keep posting it as if you think that makes the burrows look good? it doesn't, it makes them look like petulant children that are afraid of competition."
quote:
Meyer said it was too close to choose. So Burrow left.
"why would a quarterback with nfl aspirations care about any of the above? why would a quarterback with nfl aspirations think he wouldnt beat out the other player for the starting job? why would the quarterback with nfl aspirations quit instead of competing to be the starter in a race that was too close to call?"
quote:
Seems like one hell of a great decision for Burrow and LSU.
and ohio state.
and if you would just leave it at that instead of starting these scorned-lover threads with absurdly cherry-picked stats then thats all that would be said.

I like Joey B. I've followed his HS career since it was known he was on OSU's recruiting radar 5 years ago.
You are putting a spin on this that I have never seen or heard anywhere from Joe or his dad Jimmy or even local sportswriters who know and talk to them.
Are you a mind reader? Do you have a bug in their house or his apartment? I think you are just projecting your own weird ideas on them.
Both Burrow and Haskins are very, very good QBs. That will be obvious at the end of the year, no matter what their individual game ups and downs are. Geez, give it a break.

This is what I struggle with in this entire "Burrow was given a raw deal" narrative that's being presented.
Not saying it was a "raw deal". I'm saying it was a logjam of QB talent. I believe Meyer when he said he could not choose. And I understand why the Burrow's moved on in May. My main point is that Haskins and Burrow are at least equal (I give a slight edge to Burrow). And Burrow will be putting up big stats now that the offense is beginning to gel.

He would've gotten a shot to prove himself, starter or not. Not like he was going to be put on the bench with no chance. And the results would've been on display for the world to see.
You think Burrow made a poor choice coming to LSU? You think he should have stayed at OSU for a Meyer coin-flip on his future? I Don't. I think he made a great choice!

and not say stupid things like the above. there is nothing to support giving the slight edge to burrow. starting from last year when haskins passed him on the depth chart, to the spring where either haskins beat him out again or they were equal and burrow didnt want to compete with him, to the play of each up to this point in the season.

I gather from your posts that you are close to the Burrow family. Is that right? What did you hear from them - what was their reaction when Meyer did not name a starter right after Spring practice?

"Scorned"? I don't think that means what you think it does. I supported Joe's transfer to LSU.

It means exactly what I think it does. You telling us you think burrow is "at least equal" to Haskins shows you don't know what the word "equal" means.
quote:
I supported Joe's transfer to LSU.
But you don't support how you perceive Meyer handled him. Meyer "dinked" him around and was not giving burrow a fair chance by continuing an open competition.

Meyer promised that there would be NO continuing competition. Meyer promised that he would name a starter in the week after Spring practice.

And you have yet to explain how continuing an open competition was unfair to burrow.

I’m not sure about last nights game I wked all night but I have seen the pockets Haskins usually throws from. He’s literally gettin 4-5 seconds. And when Burrow was playing behind the same Oline he did outplay Haskins n spring game. It would be much different if Haskins had played behind our line especially because joe is a better runner. I agree Haskins has more upside though. But Osu hadn’t played a D until Penn St.

Yards per completion is a useless stat
as i've said multiple times, it proves that burrow/ens are getting the ball downfield effectively which also shows that he's got time to throw. they are also spreading it around to different receivers which makes gameplanning against lsu harder

quote:good grief. no.
Your argument is "if you take away the 30% of the games when Burrow wasn't very good, he's really good."
the point is - when burrow is being asked to make it happen, he is getting it done. when ens is pulling back, the stats naturally suffer. it's a facile correlation that even an elementary school kid should be able to understand.

I'm with Buckeye on this. Many of us followed Burrow closely in high school and at OSU. We know how Meyer works. We know how he kept Barrett around for a million years while we had two qbs riding the bench that were both light years better. This isn't as much about Burrow being a quitter or being less of a QB than Haskins is it is about Meyer playing favorites. I too would take Burrow in a heartbeat over Haskins. Burrow throws a great ball, is a better runner, better decision maker, and better leader in the huddle. He can do things that Haskins can't do on the field. Haskins can make some amazing throws, but he's not fearless like Burrow. He's not the decision maker that Burrow is.

extremely subjective statistical parameters

to make burrow look good
quote:there's nothing ridiculous about it. it's part of the reason why lsu for the 2nd week in a row is #1 in strength of record according to espn. there's your "comparison"
at the very least you could be consistent and judge the other quarterbacks to that same ridiculous level.

I don't understand how an open competition is unfair to any of the people participating in the competition, no. Go ahead and attempt to explain it.

Haskins wasn't nearly as bad as the stats suggest early on.
