What's the purpose of a MESSAGE board, if people on it aren't giving and receiving information that they use to change "their world"?

We just witnessed a convincing example of people using politics to alter the course of your world via the Supreme Court. And people on both sides intensely believe that they are in fact changing America. And there are others who are also in it as "a hobby". Getting paid to send messages, protest, etc.

But whatever happens in politics will have a huge impact on you, way more than anything else on here you do.
