Pulled up to work and wjbo said a plane hit the wtc then immediatly the top of the hour chime played. I get in and load up cnn.com and they have a picture of a big hole in the tower. Called the wife and said turn on the TV because a plane hit the wtc and it's a pretty big hole. In and out working and watching TV that day. I stop in the conference room and the smokey shot of the spires sticking out the rubble on tv. The guy watching said the tower fell. I asked the top fell? He said no, the whole thing.
Had a chipped Dish network and the major networks were NY and LA local channels. Watched that for a week after. All their local reporters doing man in the street type interviews and posters going up with folks looking for loved ones.
Visited the 9/11 exhibit in DC at the Smithsonian in 2004 and they had the ABC feed from that morning running in a loop. Most surreal was pay phones setup and you could listen to answering machine messages that folks left from the upper floors of the towers.
