We're approaching the point where, "Well, this is essentially our second team out there." Football isn't even a contact sport - basketball and soccer are "contact" sports. Football is a high speed collision sport.
Injuries are a huge part of that. More disturbing problem is suspensions and other attrition losses. Rapidly turns a strength into a weakness and it isn't even due to something happening in practice, conditioning or in games.
