SD you can move east and live cheaper but still enjoy some of the best weather on the planet.

I'd prefer a place with more seasons. I like the leaves falling and it getting cold sometimes. Tacoma has fairly mild summers and winters too. I know it sounds odd but I'd get tired of 72 degrees year round.
Plus you have CA taxes. WA doesn't have a state income tax.
