I've told this story before - damned near 40 years ago, I was at Boy Scout summer camp in picturesque Trout, Louisiana (Camp Attakapas, which is some kind of cultural appropriation that somehow slipped passed the PC culture). There was a troop of black scouts coming through for the first time with us.
Great guys, but they could not swim or canoe worth a frick. They came in last in the "in and out" canoe race so bad we had to swim out and tow them in.
Good times...
(ETA: And us white scouts with the "good" hair did not wear "swim caps" back then. In fact, I think you would have gotten your arse kicked for something like that.)
