Arent they drilling off the Cali Coast

Thats why im surprised its so high if they are. I thought the tax was .30 a gal so figured we be at 3.50 not 4

Again, there’s a lot of subjectivity.

Cost of living for the working class and economic factors like local/state business taxes and general overhead plays a part too. Plus regulations around simple things like equipment depreciation, for instance.

Oil and gas companies get A LOT of tax breaks in certain states and very few in others.

I suspect Cali is an expensive state for oil and gas companies to do business. They probably have tons more regulatory requirements, get fined for shite a lot more, and get much fewer tax breaks.
